The Citizens Party was an anti-nuclear environmentalist party founded in 1980 by Barry Commoner, who ran as it's candidate for President. The party received over 200,000 votes nationally in 1980, but support had declined sharply by 1984, when Sonia Johnson ran as the Citizens Party nominee for President. Failing to qualify for ballot status, the Johnson didn't receive any votes in California in 1984, and ceased to exist shortly after the election.
