1911: Opponent, Proposition 7 (Establishing the right of Initiative and Referendum in California)
1911: Opponent, Proposition 12 (Conferring upon the Railroad Commission the power to regulate and control the business of furnishing certain commodities and performing certain services for the public)

  • NOTABLE NO VOTE (California Suffrage): Wright was one of 5 State Senators (and 17 Legislators overall) who voted against SCA 8 (1911), which amended the State Constitution and gave women the right to vote in California. 
  • NOTABLE NO VOTE (Initiatives and Referenda): Wright was the sole legislator who voted against SCA 22 (1911), which gave California voters the right of initiative and referendum. 
  • NOTABLE NO VOTE (Recall): Wright was one of 4 State Senators (and 14 Legislators overall) who voted against SCA 23 (1911), which gave California voters the ability to recall statewide and legislative elected officials.
  • Wright was the first Senator to represent Imperial County after it's incorporation.
