- NOTABLE NO VOTE (Slavery): Pierce was one of 4 State Senators (and 15 Legislators overall) who voted against SJR 1 (1865), adopting the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which officially ended slavery in the United States.
- What's In A Name? There are numerous instances of Pearce's name being spelled Pierce including the 1863-64 Senate Journal. However, a document with his signature clearly provides his name as "George Pearce."
