Born: October 24, 1830 in Hoffen, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France (or)
Born: October 23, 1831 in Algiers, French Algeria

Died: August 15, 1896 in Sutter Co., CA

1879: Delegate, Second Constitutional Convention (Sacramento)

  • Several biographies (including his obituary in the August 22, 1896 edition of the Pacific Rural Press) put the location of Ohleyer's birth as "Algiers, France" which appears to indicate that he was born in what was then French Algeria (and is now Algeria). However, it seems most likely that this was a misinterpretation of "Alsace".
  • Be Fruitful and Multiply: Ohleyer had seven children.
  • PLACENAME: Ohleyer Road in Yuba City is named for the legislator.
