1957: President, California Republican Assembly
1958-1960: Chairman, California Republican Party
1958-1960: Member, Santa Clara County Planning Commission
1970: Primary Candidate for Secretary of State (Lost)

  • LEGISLATION: Coauthor of the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (1968), which allows all public employees (including municipal employees) to unionize in California.
  • LEGISLATION: As a member of the Assembly Select Committee on Environmental Quality, Milias was an author of AB 2045 (Chapt. 1433, Stats of 1970) which became the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970 (CEQA).
  • Milias was not named after George Wallace. His middle name came from his mother's maiden name and he was born well before Wallace's political career began in 1946.
