- LEGAL TROUBLES: In 1997, Kim and his wife pleaded guilty to charges of accepting and hiding $230,000 in illegal campaign donations from the Hyundai Motor America, Daewoo Internatonal Corp., Korean America and Samsung America companies. In March 1998, Kim was sentenced to two months home confinement under electronic monitoring.
