  • RECORD-HOLDER: Montanez was the youngest woman to serve in the Calfornia State Legislature, being sworn in at age 28. Prior to Montanez, Esto Broughton (one of the original women to serve in the legislature) was the youngest woman to serve from the time of her inauguration (1919) until 2002, when Montanez was sworn in.
  • In 2001, Montanez and Maribel De La Torre became the first two sisters to serve together on a city council in California.
  • IN HER HONOR: ACR114 (2023) by Luz Rivas would honor the life and legacy of Cindy Montañez and declares January 19 as Cindy Montañez Day.
  • PLACENAME: Pacoima Wash Park in San Fernando is in the process of being renamed to honor Montañez.
