Previous: Treasurer, San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce
2009-2010: Minority Leader, California State Assembly
2010: Candidate for Assembly Speaker (Lost; 26 to 48)
2010: Resigned from the State Assembly on August 23.
2013-Present: Founding Director, Institute for Advanced Technology & Public Policy (CalPoly)

  • Kara Blakeslee attended CalPoly San Luis Obispo (BA, Business Administration, 1987) who later served as a Senate Fellow for State Senator John Garamendi. For the record, attending CalPoly and being a Senate Fellow is an excellent combination. 
  • In the SD-15 Special Primary Election, Blakeslee received 49.49%, just 747 votes from winning out of 146,000 votes cast.
  • CURRENT EVENTS: In May 2012, Blakeslee announced plans for create a 'California Reform Institute' to provide "infrastructure for policy ideas in the center." [Source: LA Times]
