  • Linda Proaps worked for Assemblyman Elder of Long Beach before marrying and later divorcing him. In 1991, Proaps wrote "Capitol Punishment" described by Ken Hoover of the UPI as "the fictional story of a legislative staffer who has an affair with her boss, Assemblyman Eric Darcy of Long Beach, and suffers through an unhappy marriage with him."
