Killed: November 27, 1850 in Sacramento, CA

1850: Mayor, City of Sacramento

  • Bigelow was the first elected Mayor of Sacramento City
  • Bigelow died in the Cholera Plague of 1850 and of injuries sustained when he fell from his horse during the 1850 Squatters Riot in Sacramento. The riot was led by Charles Robinson, who was later elected to the Assembly while in prison on murder charges connected to the riots.
