  • PLACENAME: The Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach (established in 1980) is located near Oakland (Alameda County). From the Parks Department: "This state beach was named in memory of State Assemblyman Robert W. Crown, who campaigned for the site's preservation as public parkland."
  • CLOSE CONTEST: Crown list the 1954 contest by 54 votes.
  • Crown was elected on a platform of creating a Bay Area Regional Transit District.
