Appointment Election
Appointment to fill the vacancy created by the failure of James W. Mandeville to take the office of State Controller following his appointment as U.S. Surveyor General. Appointment made by Governor John B. Weller. The State Senate refused confirmation, and on January 27th, the Governor announced that he was withdrawing the nomination.
