Candidate Biography:

Killed (maybe): April 7, 1858 at Cavores, Sonora, Mexico*

  • The "History of Political Conventions" indicates that Rhodes (spelled Rhoades in that book) died at the Battle of Cavores during the attempted succession of the "Republic of Sonora" from Mexico. However, Rhodes is not listed as a participant in either the book on the expedition by Robert H. Forbes or in any contemporary news articles.
