1885-1886: Member, San Francisco County Board of Supervisors

  • PUBLISHED: Author of two books.
  • WHOA: Farwell attended Lincoln's first inauguration, helped capture a Confederate pirate ship, invented machine guns, and saved the crew of a Russian frigate.
  • INVENTOR: Was an inventor who was issued at least eleven patents for a variety of inventions including "Improvement in Machine-Guns" (1873 & 1874 & 1875), Corn-huskers (1880), "Flash-Light Apparatus for Photographers' Use" (1895), a water filter (1896), and a firearm magazine (1902).
