Died: January 4, 1867 in San Francisco, CA

  • In 1855, Henry S. Foote had the support of a majority of the legislature (members of the Know Nothing Party) to be elected U.S. Senator from California, until Flint defected from that party. The seat remained vacant for two years until 1857.
