• Various sources attribute his birth to dates between 1817 and 1820 and place it in either Illinois or New York. Since his brother Selim was born in New York in 1815 and his sister Georgiana was born in New York in 1820, and because his obituary listed his age as 47, it seemed that placing his birth as 1817 in New York made sense.
• Woodworth died February 2nd 1865, and in his will expressed a desire to be cremated as soon as this was legal in California. He was cremated in June or July 1895.
