The platform adopted at the Convention included "... It is the duty of the people to select as candidates for office in this state, only such men as are permanently located here, and who, by their moral character and correct business habits, give assurance that a rigid economy, as well as an energetic enforcement of the laws, will govern in the administration of public affairs."
