Special Election to fill the vacancies created by the resignations of State Senator Gordon Cologne (SD-36) and Assemblyman Peter F. Schabarum (AD-49).

Cologne resigned after being appointed to the Fourth Appellate District Court. Schabarum resigned after being elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
