  • BEAR FLAG: During the Senate session on December 12, 1911, Senator Bryant introduced a resolution authorizing the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate to procure a Bear Flag of the State of California and have it displayed in a conspicuous place in the Senate Chamber. (1911 Senate Journal, p. 130) Later that day, the resolution was adopted by a vote of 30-0. (1911 Senate Journal, p. 141) On Monday, December 18, 1911, the Bear Flag was displayedfor the first time in the Senate Chambers. (1911 Senate Journal, p. 342)
