- Source of confusion: It appears that another individual with a similar name ("John Hjalmar Holmquist" or "Hjalmar Johannes Holmquist") who was also born in Sweden in 1879 (in September) also died in Washington state. This Holmquist died at Darrington on January 21, 1922.
