Dr. Jasmeet Bains
Born: July 2, 1986 in Delano, CA
- Biographic Note: First Sikh elected to the California State Legislature.
- NOTABLE NO VOTE (Mid-Decade Redistricting): Bains was the sole Democrat, and one of 28 legislators overall, who voted against ACA 8 (2025) which proposed amending the State Constitution in order to allow for a mid-decade redrawing of California's congressional districts in order to increase the number of Democrats in the delegation.
- LEGISLATION: Author of AB 33 (Chapt. 887, Stats of 2023) which established, within California state govenrment, a Fentanyl Misuse and Overdose Prevention Task Force.
- LEGISLATION: Author of AJR 13 (2025) which would censure members of the California congressional delegation who voted for cuts to social safety net programs as part of the "The One, Big, Beautiful, Bill"
