  • LEGISLATION: Author of AB 32 (2006), titled the "Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006", that "...requires California, the world’s sixth-biggest economy, to cut statewide global warming emissions back to 1990 levels by 2020, a reduction of about 25 percent off current projections.   • LEGISLATION: Author of SB 1381 (2012) which would change the terminology used in California statute from "mentally retarded person" to "person with intellectual disability" in the Business and Professions, Civil, Education, Government, Health and Safety, Insurance, Penal, Probate, Vehicle, and Welfare and Institutions Codes. This bill was signed into law as Chapter 457, Statutes of 2012.
