  • After assuming the office of Treasurer in 1956, Button reportedly thought it was likely that the office would be abolished; "It is my considered opinion that the office of State Treasurer with its present duties and responsibilities does not justify independent constitutional status."
  • WWII: Served as a major in the photographic division of the Signal Corps.
