  • YOUNGER BROTHER: According to Wikipedia, George's younger brother Luther Burbank developed more than 800 strains and varieties of plants including the white blackberry and Russet Burbank potato (now the most widely grown potato in North America) which is ideally suited for baking, mashing, and making french fries and chips. Luther has one school district (San Jose), one high school (Sacramento), one middle school (Highland Park), and four elementary schools (Santa Rosa, Long Beach, Modesto, and Artesia) in California named for him.
