1923-1928: Postmaster of Marysville, CA

  • OUCH: Lewis and E. M. Smith died on September 11th when Smith's boat capsized in a storm during a fishing trip on the lake. Smith's body was recovered on the 12th but Lewis wasn't found until the 19th. Mrs. Smith was rescued "after clinging for six hours to the capsized boat from which her husband and Postmaster Ed. J. Lewis, of Marysville were drowned..." (Source: San Pedro News Pilot)
