- In 1987, Trump changed his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican. In 1999, Trump again changed his registration, this time to Reform. In 2001, Trump again changed his registration, this time to Democratic. In 2009, Trump again changed his registration, this time to Republican.
- IMPEACHMENT: On September 24, 2019, the House of Representatives began an impeachment inquiry against Trump. The House of Representatives (led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi) voted to impeach Trump on two charges (abuse of power, and obstruction of Congress) on December 18, 2019. The impeachment resolutions were sent to the Senate on January 15, 2020. The impeachment trial in the Senate began on January 16, 2020. On February 5th, Trump was acquitted of both charges (obstruction of Congress by a vote of 53-47, and abuse of power by a vote of 52-48).
- IMPEACHMENT II: The Sequel: On January 12, 2021, the House of Representatives began a second impeachment inquiry against Trump. The House of Representatives (led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi) voted to impeach Trump on single charge ("incitement of insurrection") on January 13, 2021. The impeachment resolutions were sent to the Senate on January 25, 2021. The impeachment trial in the Senate began on February 9th.
