  • In 1998, Gallegos presented El Monte-resident Rocky Sanchez with a "Citizen of the Year" proclamation. In 2004, Sanchez was sentenced to 1,002 years in prison after being convicted of 41 felony counts including "forcible rape, attempted torture, spousal abuse, assault with a firearm, possession of a destructive device, false imprisonment, witness intimidation, stalking and possession of ammunition by a felon."
