Candidate Biography:

Born: September 21, 1813 in St.Thomas, Danish West Indies, Dano-Norwegian Realm (now U.S. Virgin Islands)
Died: January 4, 1903

  • Was known as "The Father of San Bernardino County"
  • At the time of his birth, St. Thomas (part of the Danish West Indies since 1672) was occupied by the British. Less than four years after his birth, the U.S. purchased the islands of Saint Thomas, Saint John and Saint Croix for $25 million in gold.
