2012-Present: Associate Minister, St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church

  • LEGISLATION: SB 711 (1999) was titled the Carl Washington School Safety and Violence Prevention Act.
  • LEGAL TROUBLES: On September 17, 2012, Washington was arrested by FBI agents and charged with six crimes including three counts of bank fraud and three counts of making a false statement to a federally insured financial institution. In February 2013, Washinton pleaded guilty and "admitted masterminding a four-year scheme in which he obtained credit cards and loans from banks and credit unions, racking up thousands of dollars in charges..." In July 2013, Washington was sentenced to a day in custody and three years of supervised release, as well as being ordered to repay the $193,661 that he stole.
