  • Emmett was a pilot, and the first legislator to fly home "for week-ends during the sessions."
  • LEGAL TROUBLES: Emmett "was found guilty of battery... He was charged with hitting a traffic officer on the nose May 9, last, during an argument over traffic regulations. ("CALIFORNIA LEGISLATOR FACES JAIL", Los Angeles Times, 6/11/1931)
  • Emmett was injured in an airplane crash near Piru on September 28, 1933 after hitting an overhead power line. "Emmett, who was piloting the plane, suffered two broken ankles..." ("Dan Emmett and Three Others Hurt in Piru Plane Crash Slated to Recover", Los Angeles Times, 9/29/1933)
