  • Supreme Court Decision: In May 1931, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a law authored by W. A. Doran, AB 131 (1919), was unconstitutional. The law, which prohibited public display of a red flag, was found to violate the Fourteenth Amendment. (Stromberg v. California, 283 U.S. 359)
