2009: Candidate for Bell Gardens City Council (Lost; 14.7%)
2010: Founder, BASTA (Bell Association to Stop the Abuse)
2011: Woman of the Year (50th Assembly District) [selected by Hector De La Torre]
2016: Delegate, Democratic National Convention
2022: Primary Candidate for CD-42 (Lost; 12.6%)

  • Garcia changed her party registration from Democratic to NPP in 2009 and back to Democrat the same year.
  • LEGISLATIVE PUNISHMENT: After being accused of sexual harassment, Garcia announced on February 9, 2018 that "effective immediately I am voluntarily taking an immediate unpaid leave from my position in the State Assembly, including any accompanying committee assignments, so as not to serve as a distraction or in any way influence the process of this investigation." On May 21, 2018, Speaker Rendon announced that Garcia had been removed from all of her committee assignments.
