  • Seawell is one of two Senators to serve two separate times as President Pro Tem of the Senate, serving as the 35th Pro Tem (1940) and as the 37th Pro Tem (1943-1935). The other was William P. Rich who served immediately prior and immediately after Seawell's first time as Pro Tem.
